Winter Activities
How far is the ski area?
The gondola station is 500 meters from the hotel – about a 10-minute walk or a short ride on the free ski bus, which runs every 15 minutes from directly opposite the hotel.
Where can I buy a ski pass?
You can purchase ski passes online, at the gondola station, or at our reception.
Where can I store my skis and boots?
We offer a ski room with boot dryers at the hotel. Additionally, free heated lockers are available for our guests at the gondola station.
Are there ski schools in Großarl?
Yes, the Panorama and Lackner ski schools at the gondola base offer lessons for children and adults, as well as private instruction.
Is Großarl suitable for non-skiers?
Definitely! Non-skiers can enjoy tobogganing, winter walks, snowshoe hiking, sleigh rides, cross-country skiing, and more.
Where is the nearest ski rental/shop?
Ski rentals and shops are located directly at the gondola station.
How snow-reliable is the Großarl/Dorfgastein ski area?
While we can’t control the weather, the ski area is equipped with excellent snowmaking systems.
Rooms
When will my room be ready?
Rooms are available from 3:00 PM on your arrival day. Please inform us if you plan to arrive after 9:00 PM.
When is check-out?
We kindly ask you to vacate your room by 11:00 AM on your departure day.
Do the rooms have balconies?
We offer rooms with and without balconies.
What baby equipment is available?
On request, we provide changing mats, diaper bins, baby cribs, potty chairs, baby monitors, and kettles.
Is the tap water drinkable?
Yes, all our taps provide mountain spring water of the highest drinking quality.
Arrival and Departure
Are snow chains required in winter?
Winter tires are sufficient as the roads are reliably cleared.
Can I arrive without a car?
Absolutely! You can fly to Salzburg or Munich, and we’ll arrange a shuttle for you (for a fee). Trains are another option; nearby stations include St. Johann im Pongau and Salzburg. Our reservation team will provide shuttle costs upon request.
How far is it by car to St. Johann, Salzburg, and Munich?
- St. Johann: 16 km / ~20 minutes
- Salzburg: 74 km / ~60 minutes
- Munich: 205 km / ~130 minutes
Are there charging stations for electric cars?
Yes, we have charging stations in our complimentary underground garage. Charging cards are available at the reception (for a fee).

Is lunch or dinner available at the hotel?
Of course! At our Kost-Bar, enjoy juicy steaks, homemade burgers, fresh pizzas, wraps, crisp salads, and more. Vegetarian options and reimagined classics are also available.

Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?

What are the spa hours?
Our "Spa under the Stars" is open from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Should I book massages in advance?
We recommend booking your preferred spa appointments before your arrival.

Appointments can be made from home or at the reception during your stay. We are happy to assist you!
Summer Activities
What guided hikes and activities are available?
As a member of BERGesund, we offer a variety of outdoor activities guided by professional mountain and climbing guides. Guests can enjoy yoga hikes, climbing tours, peak ascents, fitness hikes, and more. Participation is free for our guests (equipment rental fees apply). Information is available on our info board or from our team.
Can I rent bikes or e-bikes?
Yes! Our partner Sport 2000, just 200 meters away, offers bikes at special rates.
Can I bike to the alpine pastures?
Absolutely! The Großarltal valley is ideal for stunning bike trails. A map of bike routes is available at the reception, and our team is happy to help.
Are there stroller-friendly trails to the alpine pastures?
Yes, there are several stroller-friendly paths in Großarl. Our team is happy to advise you.
Dogs at Berg-Leben
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, dogs are welcome at Berg-Leben. Please notify us during booking to arrange a suitable room.
Which areas are dog-free?
The restaurant and spa areas are dog-free.
What is the cost for bringing a dog?
We charge €20.00 per day (food and bedding not included). Additional charges may apply for damages or excessive cleaning.
Where can I walk my dog?
The Großarler Ache trail and many alpine paths are perfect for walks.
How are suites cleaned after a stay with a dog?
Suites are cleaned with a special cleaner as required by law.
Is there a nearby veterinarian?
Yes, Mag. Gabi Fidler’s practice in Werfen (30 minutes away) specializes in dogs.
Miscellaneous & Cancellation
Is parking free?
Yes, our underground garage is complimentary and located 100 meters from the hotel. Unloading is possible in front of the hotel.
Are there a doctor and pharmacy in town?
Two general practitioners are available, including weekends. The Großarl pharmacy provides 24/7 service.
Is there a laundry service?
Yes, we offer laundry services for a fee.
How are prices calculated?
Prices are "starting at" rates per person per night, including breakfast and all Berg-Leben amenities. A local tax of €2.50 per adult per night is not included. Rates are based on a minimum stay of three nights. Short stays (fewer than three nights) incur a 20% surcharge. Single occupancy is €70.00 per day extra.

When is a reservation binding?
A reservation is binding with a written confirmation and deposit.
What are the cancellation terms?
If no travel insurance is booked:
- Up to 30 days before arrival: Free
- 30 to 7 days before arrival: 70% of the booked price
- Less than 7 days or no-show: 100% of the booked price
Cancellations or changes must be made in writing. Postponed stays are treated as cancellations.
What happens to the deposit?
Deposits can be credited toward a future stay or refunded (minus transfer fees).
Travel insurance
We recommend travel insurance through Europäische Reiseversicherung. Alternatively, check your credit card for coverage. Without insurance, AGBH terms apply.
